Summer Reading Challenge
A national partnership with The Reading Agency to encourage children to read for pleasure over the summer holidays.
With funding from the James Reckitt Library Trust the Library Service commissions a new work piece of work to tie-in with the theme of the Summer Reading Challenge.
A key requirement of the commission is that the successful organisation must tour the work around Hull’s primary schools during the summer term, to capture children’s imaginations and inspire them to take part in the Challenge.
In 2015 a new Hull theatre company Broccolily created a performance that toured schools, libraries, shopping centres and parks.
Award: £15,000 per annum (annual Audience Development Award)
