Networked Narrative

Networked Narrative: 2014 - 2017 - Inspiring a new generation of creative producers and developing essential life skills for young people.

Young people aged 13-25 from Hull, Burnley, and Wigan are working closely with their local library, artists, and a wide range of professionals to have a say, and influence the decision making for three online / public space art commissions. In 2016, the first commissioned artwork will tour libraries across the North of England. We hope to inspire a new generation of creative producers and for young people to develop essential life skills, such as self-confidence, self-belief and effective communication skills, by having a real say in the decision making process.

This collaborative project is made up of four main partners: Hull Culture and Leisure Library Service, Artlink (Hull), FACT (Liverpool), WLCT (Wigan Leisure & Culture Trust) and Lancashire County Council.

FACT are also providing a bespoke training programme for staff, youth workers and librarians, to gain the right skills to become confident with technology, and to be more creative about how their libraries and public spaces can be fun, innovative places for young people to feel comfortable in.

The James Reckitt Library Trust enabled the Library Service to contribute match funding to be part of a much larger £300k project, funded by Arts Council England. http://www.fact.co.uk/projects/networked-narrative.aspx
