National Poetry Day

National Poetry Day is an annual event celebrated up and down our fair land on the first Thursday in October.

It has been recognised in Hull this year, with funding from the James Reckitt Library Trust, to support an all day event with two stages at the Hull Central Library and Kardomah 94.

Poetry groups and performance poets from Hull and the surrounding region collaborated to present work and open mic sets in celebration of the spoken word.

This year’s event has been curated by Ian Winter - writer, actor and performance poet.

Award: £1,500 (Annual Audience Development Award 2016)
