Made In Hull (reflections of a native son)

An exhibition of street photography depicting life in the city of Hull.

Made in Hull - a rich journey of discovery through the streets of the city, observing the strange and the familiar with the eyes – and camera – of a native son.

Some street photographers say that they capture the people and places of their surroundings as if they were visiting Martians, astonished by the poetry of the everyday.

By contrast, George Norris is no visitor, but a part of the story his photographs unveil. The traders, markets, pubs and buildings he explores are reflections of the city he grew up in. Inspired by punk, but rooted in tradition, George is of the generation that bridges the gap between the Hull that was Blitzed beyond recognition, and the city it is coming to be.

The exhibition was open from 23rd January - 28th February 2017 in the exhibition space and the cafe at the Hull Central Library.

George was in conversation with curator Isabelle Tracey talking about photography and all things Hull - Friday 10th February - Meet the Artist
