Be Kind
Celebrating World Kindness Day with a unique art project at Hull Libraries.
Over the half-term holiday (Oct/Nov 2017) children aged 8 - 12 years were invited to take part in a series of art workshops with artist Debi Keable.
The workshops were held at libraries across Hull and engaged over 40 young people in making their own artworks and discussing what kindness means with them.
The week culminated in a 'live art' event at Bransholme library to celebrate 'World Kindness Day', with light artist Debi and graffitti artist Pinky collaborating to make a large 'be kind' painting/light up sign. The event also incorporated an exhibition of the ‘be kind’ artworks created by children who attended the workshops and a ‘kindness board’ to leave messages about random acts of kindness.
A neon 'be kind' sign - one of only ten kindly donated by People United, the people behind the World Kindness Day campaign, was on display at the event and will be permanently installed at Hull Central Library.
