Shelf Life

Connecting the highest quality art with communities through their library service.

Shelf Life is a new funding award / project in partnership between Hull’s Library Service and Freedom Festival to commission 10 artists' books, which will only be exhibited through Hull's public library service. The artists and their books will be high profile, fascinating, provocative and stimulating. Four of the books will be from a curated strand of nationally recognised artists with the remaining six commissioned from an open call for submissions.

Curation and commissioning of the highest quality will lead to the exhibition of unique works of art that exploit the space, content and audience of a public library whilst attracting people to view public library spaces and content through new eyes to develop new audiences. The project will run through 2016.
